President, John McGlade warmly welcomed guest speaker, Philip Tweedie when he recently visited the club to talk about “The 148th Open Golf Championship”. Philip's presentation was part talk and part showing some special videos made to commemorate the event at the Royal Portrush Gulf Club, where Philip is the club captain.

Coleraine Probus visit 'The Diamond' in four centuries

Alison McCaughan, guest speaker at the recent Probus Club meeting, had members fascinated as she told the story of our town centre over the last 400 years. From asking everyone to close their eyes and imagine they were in the centre of Coleraine, and posing the simple question "what did you see in the Diamond today?"

Coleraine Probus and the joys of banking in the 50s

President John McGlade gave a warm welcome to members and then introduced the speaker for a recent Probus meeting, John Richardson. John's the topic was “Banking Travel - The Early Days.” After a 40-year banking career with the Northern Bank, John had an abundance of amusing stories and fine collection of period photos to enhance the stories he told.

Coleraine Probus looks at Causeway Coast Tourism

Brief summery:
The Vice President, Derick Woods, introduced this mornings speaker, Matt Scrimgeour, the topic of his talk being “The National Trust North Coast Impact Study.” Matt, a Scottish resident in Ballycastle for 10 years, is part of an independent Company of Consultants who at present are engaging with local residents of the north coast as part of the N.T. Assessment surrounding the impact of tourism growth in the area.
