Minutes for 7th January 2020

Minutes of the meeting of Coleraine Probus Club
38 members were in attendance.

Apologies: (9) Jim Dinsmore, Leo Dolan, Noel Finlay, Graham, Ian Murray, James Nesbitt, John O'Neill, Michael Turner and Gordon Ward.

The President, John McGlade, welcomed members to this the first meeting of 2020. He then introduced this mornings Speaker, Helen Perry the topic of her presentation being “The Museum Service; Highlights of the Local Collection”.

A question and answer session followed the presentation and a vote of thanks proposed by Ken Parkes, was passed to Helen by the President.

Weekly Business:
: The minutes of the 3rd December 2019 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the President.

Matters arising: None.

Correspondence: None.

Joe Alcorn reminded members that the AGM will be held on Tuesday 28th January 2020 at The Golf Club. An informal carvery lunch in The Lodge Hotel Conservatory will follow the AGM.
It is proposed that a Club Away Day will take place on Tuesday 31s March to "The Ulster Museum" or "HMS Caroline". Members will decide.

Welfare: Cecil Spotten has nothing to report

Treasurer: Nigel Semple reminded members that this financial year ends with the AGM. Any outstanding membership fees (£25.00), for this year, should be paid before the end of the month. Outstanding expenses for this financial year should also be submitted to Nigel within the next two weeks.

Any Other Business.
Some Office Bearers will resign this month and if you are approached to consider joining the Probus Committee please give it some serious thought.

Next Meeting: The next speaker's meeting will be held on Tuesday 14th January 2020 when Andrew Kane will give a talk on “Elections in Coleraine”.

Closing Remarks. The President thanked members for attending and hoped to see everyone at the next meeting.
