Minutes for 21st November 2017
Attendance: 39 members were in attendance.
Apologies: Eric Fulton, Danny Kennedy, John McKegney, John Tan and Mike Turner. (5)
The Vice President, Des Moore, welcomed members to the meeting together with guests Jerry Sayers and Robin Blackford. He then introduce this morning’s speaker, Michele Knight- McQuillan the topic of her talk being “The First Causeway Coast and Glens Mayor.”
A question and answer session followed the talk. A summary of the talk is available in the speaker’s record book and here on the club website.
A vote of thanks, proposed by Cecil Leitch, was passed to Michele by the Vice President. The members showed their appreciation of an intriguing talk.
Minutes: The minutes of the 14th November 2017 were, with the approval of the members, taken as read and signed by the Vice President. These can be viewed on the club website.
Matters arising: None not covered by the agenda.
Social: Des Johnston reported that he has 18 bookings for the Christmas lunch on Tue. 12th Dec. Joe Alcorn may have other bookings. Reservations should be returned to Joe or Des as soon as possible.
Welfare: Cecil Spotten said that Jim Hillis is in The Causeway Hospital awaiting a video conference with his Consultant to determine the way forward. John Dobson is at home but is going for an operation next Monday 27th Nov.
Treasurer: Nothing new to report.
Counterpoint Christmas Concert; Friday 8th Dec. 2017 at 7:30 pm. In Patrick’s Church, Coleraine. Admission £10:00. Tickets from Nigel Semple.
Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on Tue. 28th Nov.2017 when the speaker will be William Mulligan on the subject of “Henry Francis Lyte”.
Closing Remarks: The Vice President thanked members for attending and looked forward to seeing them at the next meeting.
